During the holiday season, it is a Mackin tradition for the employees to select and give to several local charities in the area. This year, the recognized charities within the Pittsburgh area were the Findlay Township “Shop with a Cop” program, West Allegheny Food Pantry, and the Beaver County Humane Society. The employees of the Harrisburg office worked with the Salvation Army and participated in their Adopt-a-Family program. Employees donated necessary “wish list” supplies along with financial contributions to all of these organizations. The company’s owners generously matched the employees’ monetary donations, which extended the benefits of these gifts.

Charities We Support

The "Shop with a Cop" program (in its ninth year) seeks to raise funds to enable local police officers to go shopping with and buy underprivileged kids from the West Allegheny School District (ages 6-13) Christmas gifts. The kids and their immediate families get to spend time with other families and enjoy a dinner/pizza party, donated by the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott.

The Beaver County Humane Society’s mission is to protect all domestic animals by providing shelter and care; adoption services; investigation, correction or prosecution of cruelty or abuse situations; education programs; and promotion of the concepts of kindness and respect for all living creatures throughout Beaver County.

The West Allegheny Food Pantry provides food and necessities to local area families in need.

The Salvation Army of Harrisburg’s Adopt-a-Family program provides help to families with Christmas gifts for their children, as well as providing the family Christmas dinner.

Robinson Township Christian School serves grades preschool through 12, educating students with a Christian world-view and equipping them for college and service in the private and corporate sector. Students who attend RTCS originate from over twenty western Pennsylvania communities. Their graduates are attending post-secondary education institutions such as: Michigan State, West Point Military Academy, University of Pittsburgh, Geneva College, and Grove City College.

In addition to Mackin’s annual holiday charities, employees are encouraged and supported in other volunteer efforts throughout the year. Many employees participate in charity races, bikes rides, and fundraising events that benefit local and national organizations. Such events include Pittsburgh’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (supporting the fight against breast cancer); Allison Park’s Just a Short Run Marathon (benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society); the City of Pittsburgh’s annual Great Race; and the MS 150 Bike Ride (a 150-mile ride, benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society).
