California Area School District Athletic Facilities Master Plan

Mackin was retained by the California Area School District to develop a Master Site Plan for a Wellness Center and Athletic Facility on their High School and Middle/Elementary School campus in California, PA.
Mackin was charged with creating an overall plan for the Campus that included the addition of a new 50,000 square foot community wellness center and multi-purpose athletic field to serve the football, soccer and marching band programs.  Other elements of the Master Plan included the relocation of a women’s softball field, improvements to the property’s access road, low impact parking design, and stormwater management. The master plan proposed PIAA standards for track and field facilities, turf multi-use field, grandstands and press box development.
Tasks included the development of alternative conceptual plans and an agreed upon preliminary and final master site plan, as well as multiple meetings and presentations with the School Board.
