Lawrence County Multimodal Corridor Plan

The 2016 Comprehensive Plan Update; Focus Lawrence County recommended, through public input, to create a corridor study for targeted multi-modal lanes in northern Lawrence County. The intention of the Corridor Study was to identify all existing conflicts within the priority corridors and to address safety of all users, both motorized and non-motorized.

There are multiple places of employment on the corridor from small retail and office, as well as, two large educational centers and large industrial and agricultural operations. The project area traverses some of the most scenic areas in the County, and the study identified and addressed each issue independently.

Mackin worked with multiple stakeholders including Lawrence County officials and staff, municipal officials, the Amish community, business owners, PennDOT and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission to prioritize recommendations for corridor improvements for Amish buggy, cyclist and pedestrians.
